Program Overview
The Chinese language program (CLP) serves to help international students to improve Chinese language skills and to acquire a better understanding of China. CLP has three levels covering from elementary level to advanced level. Curriculums is designed under the unit of one semester, which consists of approximately 18 weeks.
Entrance to the elementary class is generally equivalent to HSK level 3 or below, entrance to the intermediate class is generally equivalent to HSK level 4-5, entrance to the advanced class is generally equivalent to HSK level 5-6.
The elementary class is taught in English. The intermediate and advanced classes are taught in Chinese and require students to have relatively balanced development on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
Eligibility
1. Applicants must be foreign citizens aged 20-55 .
2. Currently following a bachelor's degree program (or equivalent) or has obtained bachelor's degree by time of applying.
3. In good moral character and in good health, and willing to respect and follow local laws and regulations.
Application Procedures
Application for the spring 2027 intake will start on September 29 and will end at 11am, November 3, 2026, Beijing local time.
1. Create an account in the online application system.
2. Complete and submit the application within the designated application periods.
3. Pass the document screening, some applicants may be required to attend online interview.
4. Pay the non-refundable application fee (RMB 400).
5. Waiting for admission notice.
FAQ
1. CLP is entirely self-funded and no scholarships are available to the program.
2. Type and cost for international student accommodations are: double room (RMB 40/day) and triple room (RMB 30/day), all with shared bathroom on each floor. Due to the limitation of dormitory capacity, online reservation for on-campus dormitory within a predetermined time is required with a first come first serve rule. Students living off-campus need to find housing by themselves and will cost more. Detailed information can be found through International Students &Scholars Center (ISSC)
3. CLP is semester basis, admitted student will be supported to apply X2 visa. More information can be found through ISSC.
4. The study extension for current student is subject to the assessment of his/ her performance.
